Thornhurst Country Club Estates

Thornhurst Country Club Estates is a private, North Pocono community, surrounded by the Lackawanna State Forest in Thornhurst Township. Homeowners enjoy a private 9-hole golf course, club house, basketball court, and a centralized location to lots of great hiking, hunting, and fishing.

Lackawanna State Forest

The Lackawanna State Forest surrounds Thornhurst Country Club Estates for the most part and also houses the 26-mile Pinchot Trails. The trails are broken down into smaller, easy-to-navigate (though rated as “Strenuous” on Pennsylvania’s State Forest web site) sections such as the Pine Hill Trail, which culminates in a breathtaking view of the mountains from above the treetops, and Bear Swamp Trail, which brings us to a really neat-looking swamp area. The options available for hiking the Pinchot Trails are wide-ranging and accommodate hikers both new and experienced.

In addition to being surrounded by State Forest, Thornhurst Township as a whole is surrounded by State Game Lands (numbers 135, 91, and 127) for hunting enthusiasts. A quick 5-minute drive to State Game Lands is what Thornhurst residents enjoy every hunting season.

Fishing is popular in Thornhurst as well. The first day of Trout Season sees cars lined up along River Road with fishers trying to kick the season off the right way in the Lehigh River, which is another natural attraction situated at about a 5-minute drive for fishers and outdoor enthusiasts living in Thornhurst Country Club Estates.

My buddy and I got out to hit some golf balls on the course the other day. It was a beautiful and sunny Spring day – a great day to get out and enjoy the outdoors!

Thornhurst Country Club Estates sports a 9-hole golf course that is closed to the public and free to the community’s homeowners and family. On a typical quiet morning in Thornhurst, you can get out early and play the course, without waiting, among only neighbors within the community.
