Thornhurst Township is a small North Pocono town with a population of roughly 1,000. Thornhurst is largely a primary living area that is comprised of homes that are both in and outside of the only private community this small township boasts, Thornhurst Country Club Estates.
One distinct appeal of Thornhurst Township is the number of outdoor activities nearby – The Lehigh River, Lackawanna State Forest, Pinchot Trails, Manny Gordon Recreation Area, and State Game Lands abound. Thornhurst is also popular among mountain biking enthusiasts who enjoy a tranquil natural surrounding as they bike along River Road and Bear Lake Road.

Another part of Thornhurst’s appeal is its location – surrounded by forest, but merely a 15 minute drive to either Wilkes-Barre, Blakeslee, or Pittston. Nearby highways include I-476, I-380, and I-84. The Thornhurst Fire and Rescue Station doubles as a community center, serving residents with ample events to raise funds for the station and also enhance and maintain the community spirit.
